Spindle bearings must fulfill specialrequirements with regard to the cage, that is why they are machine-made at oursite in Kürnach. The cage keeps the balls at a distance which prevents directcontact of the balls and provides for an even load distribution within thebearing, having a positive impact on the lifetime. HQW spindle bearings have awindow cage made of fabric reinforced phenolic resin as standard.

If it is required for your application, thecages can also be produced from high-performance plastics such as PEEK or Torlon®. Plastics are used due to their low weight, and their corrosionresistance and low friction. The latter leads to reduced wear and heatdevelopment, improving the speed suitability and increasing the grease servicelife. That is why plastics are especially suitable as cage materials forbearings in machine tool spindles.
